Sometimes, when setting up email forwarding in Gmail, you may be asked to complete an extra authentication step. This guide explains how to set up Gmail email forwarding and complete the verification if prompted.
Set Up Gmail Email Forwarding
Step 1: Log in to the Gmail account
Step 2: In the Gmail search bar, click the filter icon
Step 3: Click Show Search Options
Step 4: Enter the required email details → Click Create Filter
Step 5: You should see an option called Add Forwarding Address → Click Add Forwarding Address
Step 6: A pop-up will appear asking you to enter the forwarding email address. Enter the forwarding email address to proceed
Step 7: After step 6, Gmail may ask you to verify the forwarding address using one of the following methods:
Passkey authentication
Verification code sent to the forwarding email address
💡 If a passkey is not configured, Gmail will send a verification code to the forwarding email address. Enter the code in Gmail to complete the setup.
Once verification is completed, Gmail forwarding will be successfully configured.
Important Note
This verification step is not from Alaan. This is an additional authentication step configured by your organization's Gmail security settings.
