Sometimes cardholders need to make exceptional transactions that exceed their regular limit amount. In this article, you will learn how to define temporary limits that reset to the original limit after the set duration.
Step 1: Navigate to the Cards menu, select the card you want to edit, and click on Edit Card.
Step 2: Under Temporary Limit, enter the new Amount and End Date when the limit will revert back to the original.
Temporary Limits are only available for cards configured with Daily or Monthly limits.
The amount chosen must be added to the existing limit amount. If a monthly card has a limit of AED 1000 and the Cardholder needs an additional AED 200, the temporary limit amount entered must be AED 1200.
Important note regarding temporary limits for Monthly cards
If the End Date is some day before the month ends and the total monthly spend up to the End Date exceeds the monthly limit, the card will be considered to have reached its limit in that month. All transactions will be declined until the limit is reset at the start of the next month. Here's an example of a card with Monthly limit of AED 1000:
Limit available as of Jan 1st: 1000
Amount spent up to Jan 12th: AED 700, implying an available limit of AED 300
Temporary Limit set on Jan 12th:
End Date: Jan 20th
Amount: AED 2000, implying an available limit of AED 1300
Amount spent up to Jan 20th: AED 1500
Limit available as of Jan 21st: AED 0
On Jan 21st the available limit is AED 0 because the total spend in January (AED 1500) exceeds the AED 1000 originally set.
